November – 2020
Speaker : Danielle Delhaes – Gardening for Life
The act of creating and tending a garden is one of the most intimate relationships that one can have with Nature and the Earth. Whether the soil is nurtured to bloom with flowers and colors or to explode with an abundance of edible produce, the often forgotten foundation of the relationship between the gardener and the land are the living systems that emerge from the design. As temporary guardians of the parcels of land that we cultivate, how can we ensure that these systems naturally abound with opportunities for life to thrive? How do we restore and welcome a productive web of micro-organisms, fungi, pollinators, birds, and other living creatures that bring balance and beauty to our gardens?
This interactive presentation will explore ways to co-create beauty and abundance with Nature through the design and care of gardens and spaces that reflect a sacred vision of life on this planet. Inspired by principles of permaculture and biomimicry, this exchange aims to offer concrete and simple techniques and ideas to garden for life.
