A workshop to engage all members, led by Sharon de Gasp\u00e9 Power, to discuss climate change and the actions that we Diggers and Weeders can and should undertake as a group to address it.\u00a0 Questionnaires to be answered by all members on how to reduce our carbon footprint from a grassroots level as a first step to achieve this goal and to disseminate our ideas at large, to make a contribution.

November 9, 2023
<\/strong>Nature Conservancy of Canada, speaker Jo\u00ebl Bonin. To speak about the climate crisis and its impact on the ecological corridors and water issues.\u00a0 (This was cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances and will be rescheduled in Fall 2024) To fill the gap, Ingrid Birker, one of our members brought in exotic seeds to share with members. Donated by Dr. Javitz, this was a great success. We thank Dr. Javitz for his generosity. His seeds are so appreciated, so many unusual seeds to sprout in our gardens. This was followed by a continued workshop giving further questions from Sharon de Gasp\u00e9 Power with members who contributed ideas on how to reduce our Carbon Footprint in many domains.\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/strong>Three of our members, Mary McBride, Marilyn Tooley and Pat Hamilton, will share their gardens and share their challenges and successes.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Angela Silver, artist, scholar, recognized for healing a scar on an expressway. She will introduce us to La Place des Montr\u00e9alaises<\/em>, an urban meadow with its 21 perennial bouquets memorializing the 14 victims of the 1989 victims at L\u2019\u00c9cole Polytechnique de Montr\u00e9al and 7 pioneering women of Montreal.\u00a0 Encompassing the Metro Champs de Mars, this once city eyesore is now an aesthetic development to blend art, architecture and landscape in a panoply of motion, form and color.\u00a0

March 14, 2024
<\/strong>Yolanta Bertram, one of our members, will impress and fascinate us by her contagious passion for and expertise with peonies.

April 11, 2024<\/strong>
Christian Mass\u00e9, UQAM professor in forest ecology, will introduce us to urban forestry, its biodiversity, role in a city and survival challenges. He will also offer principles to follow in choosing the right tree for the right place.\u00a0<\/p>\n
